Pirate Chic

To celebrate International Talk Like A Pirate Day, I went to work today dressed like a very manly pirate. I am very convincing and menacing! I even won an award! A certificate and free movie tickets because I was clearly the best dressed pirate.
Okay, so only me and the guy running the competition dressed up! But still I feel very very honoured, and feel like a bit of looting and sword fighting. I had an eye patch too, but it didn't really work out, because I am clever and could not manage to put it on without a mirror. Also you can't see in the picture I had one big gold hoop in, and copious amounts of eyeliner.
Also I made this dress in about two minutes last night, to go with the piratey theme. So I very much deserve a nice prize and certificate for all the effort! Don't you Arrrgree? Yes that was the lamest joke in the history of jokes. All bow down before me.

So I decided I quite like my shoddy, badly made stripey dress. It matches my hair you see. Look up there, I have dressed it for wintery weather and then dressed it for summery weather. It is a very very versatile dress. I can see it also working as a skirt or a top too. HUZZAH!
What are all your thoughts on the matter? Is pirate chic hot or not?
Is it safe for me to go into public in very very badly sewn garments??

  1. "Don't you Arrrgree?" haha, yes I do! :D

And I would have never known you made that dress... looks good to me! (Not that I've got sewing skills like a "Project Runway" contestant, more like the sewing skills of a 5 yeard old... so I'm not sure that my opinion really counts!)

Your pirate outfit is so cool, and I didn't know it was "International Talk Like A Pirate Day"... perhaps I should talk to my driving instructer like a pirate today... haha, and then I'd probably fail my drive time. :P

  2. Haha, well thinking of speaking like a pirate to my driving instructor, reminds me how my friend was telling me her driving instructor was a hippie, and was all like, "Duuuude... that was a totally radical parking job, dude..." haha.

And yes, I am still going for my license. :( I am glad to hear I'm not the only one who wasn't all gung-ho (sp) about driving. It kind of scares me too... and then I started driver's ed and that turned out nightmarish. I finished all my driver's ed classes (finally!! that was like 30 something hours of torture!) but now I have to do 3, 2 hour drive times with a driving instructor. My first one is in less than a couple hours... I'm kind of nervous, for some reason I've gotten physcologially (sp) freaked out about this whole driver's ed thing and now I HATE it and find it so challenging... even though it's really probably not THAT bad.

    Anyway, sorry looong rant! :P

  4. You make a very stylish and lovely pirate indeed! Ever since I was little I have loved the way pirates dressed, and it sparked off even more after Jack Sparrow appeared. So I definitely think that pirate chic is so hot!

  15. I kind of wish my driving instructor was a hippie too. My driver's ed teacher was a heartless jerk and a bore to top it off. My driving instructor (they change for each drive time) was ok, kind of friendly, but then kind of cold, and kind of unpatient when it came to teaching parrel parking which I um, SUCK AT!

Man, you guys still have a lot less then we have to do... but you do have more than a lot of places. Some of my friends, are like, oh yeah you just practice a bit on your own, then go take a test and if you pass, ta da! You get a lisence. I'm like, ok, I have to take a test just to get a PERMIT and then do 60 hours of drive time, in all different required conditions, and then do 30 hours of driver's ed class, pass 9 unit tests, and a 50 question final test, then do three, 2 hour drive times, then go to the DMV and take a final test in the car, and if you manage to pass that... THEN, THEN you finally get your license.

However if the hours just got upped to 100... then you guys do have it worse on the driving hours! And I thought 60 felt like forever! :P

True! Sometimes being nervous is a good thing! Don't want to be recklessly confident! :P

Anyway, it's getting late, better go to bed. Talk to you later! :)
